In an interview he gave to Bloomberg TV from the New York International Auto Show floor, Chrysler LLC’s Vice President Jim Press said that the American automaker needs about half of its 11 current SUV models. According to Press, since the company has started merging the Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge brands into joint dealerships, there is no need for so many SUVs. “We’re going to stop overlapping; we’re going to bring everything under one roof. By doing that we will have more products in the markets we are not covering,” Press said. “Our finances will have better quality.”

This has to be one of the weirdest creations we’ve ever found for sale on eBay. Story has it that when Enzo Ferrari refused renowned car collector Bill Harrah’s request to build him a four wheel drive Ferrari model, Harrah took it upon himself to create one by combining the front end of a (crashed) Ferrari 365 GT with the body of a 1969 Jeep Wagoneer. Since this weird vehicle was the offspring of a Ferrari and a Jeep, Harrah named it the Jerrari…

As you’re probably already aware, Americans and Europeans aren’t the only ones feeling the pressure from rising gas prices. However, just like any part of the world, there are some people in Russia who honestly wouldn’t care. Take the owner of this previous generation gas guzzling Jeep Grand Cherokee for example who decided to share his thoughts about fuel economy.

Jeep is attempting to lure UK buyers who love personalizing their car by launching of a wide range of accessories for the Patriot crossover including a Startech chrome grille, a bodykit, sports suspension and 20-inch alloys. The jeep maker has packaged a number of exterior design features from Startech under the ‘SE Exterior’ Pack, which includes a front and rear under-ride bodykit; chrome grille inserts; exhaust tailpipe cover and Startech logo for the rear of the vehicle for £999.

The final production version of Jeep’s J8 military vehicle was revealed at the “Euro Jeep Camp 2008”, a customer event that took place in Northern Germany this week. Jeep had shown a pre-production version of the Wrangler Unlimited based J8 at the DSEi military trade show in the UK last September. Powered by a 2.8-litre four-pot turbo-diesel engine that produces 150Hp and 400 Nm (295 lb.-ft.) of torque, the J8 is designed to meet the needs of both non-government organisations and government agencies.

The all-new Jeep Cherokee has arrived in the UK where it’s offered exclusively with a 177 HP 2.8-litre diesel engine and a choice of manual and automatic gearbox. Jeep’s new SUV is available in only one equipment level – Limited – which includes standard ESP, Hill Descent Control, 17-inch alloy wheels and leather trim. Prices are set at £24,595 for the manual version and £25,595 for the automatic. Follow the jump for details on the Cherokee Limited’s standard equipment.

Although Chrysler has yet to make an official announcement, the 2009 model year Jeep Patriot and Compass have already made their way to the company’s dealerships. As you can see in the dealer photographs after the jump, the major difference between the 2008 and 2009 Patriot and Compass concerns the revamped interior that features a newly-styled dashboard with softer plastics, new door panels and seat fabrics.

Jeep’s proposal that is based on the 5door Wrangler Unlimited features a hybrid system similar to the one used by GM on the Chevrolet Volt. What this means is that the Jeep EV uses an electric motor, a lithium-ion battery system, and a small gasoline engine with an integrated electric generator to produce additional energy to power the electric-drive system when needed.

And no, even though it would have been extremely funny, we haven’t misspelled Top Gear in the title. Top Gayer is a UK-based online lifestyle magazine for those who like viewing relationships from the opposite side of the road if you get our drift. Humor aside, the folks over at Top Gayer are readying a bright pink Jeep Grand Cherokee with which they intend to drive for 6,000 miles across Europe in 9 days in an attempt to raise £150,000 for the Children’s Leukaemia Research Fund and Macmillan Trust.

We’re not sure if the name ‘WallysCar’ has something to do with the fact that the original Jeep was made by a company called Willys, but what we’re certain of is that the Izis replicates the appearance of the classic American off-roader, or at least in a comical sort of way. The mini-me Jeep is a plastic-paneled body-on-chassis off-roader that comes equipped with a Peugeot –sourced 1.4-litre TU3A petrol engine delivering 75 HP.
