Jeep he auto industry is fickle:
26th January 2011

he auto industry is fickle: unstable and likely to change. Yet, by looking at the best selling vehicles of we may be able to gain insight into what will be popular this year.
The first thing to notice about the top ten vehicles sold in the U.S. last year was that trucks andback sales had previously declined due to high gas prices.the Ford F-Series not only retained its first place finish, but sales increased a whopping 28 percent.
hevy’s Silverado moved passed the Toyota Camry to take over second place. Silverado truck sales increased percent. The Camry’s decline of 8 percent, along with the Corolla’s drop of almost 10 percent, reflected Toyota’s mismanaged recall problems that gave it a public relations bla

For the launch of the model that will mark its return to the most important European car segment, Lancia chose to interpret the positioning of the Lancia Delta by combining the personality of Richard Gere and a story that is particularly close to his lhis is not a product story but a political poem about peace. The day of brochure adverts is over and Lancia has been conversant in the new language for some timifestyle and the values he upholds within one advertising sp

is a keen petrolhead, having been immersed in the world of classic cars from a young age by his car-fanatical father. Gareth and his father have filled their many garages with cars both old and new. Gareth has bought and sold cars since the age of fifteen and, like his dad, has aspirations to own many more over the years. Having gained a degree in Management From The University of Manchester, Gareth started his professional career right here at Nationwide as a Systems Analyst in 2009. Gareth is now known as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice for his ability to spot a deal and snap up a bargain, much like his director David. Keeping track of 6500 cars and vans is not an easy task but Gareth thrives on keeping the pricing up to date and his colleagues one step ahead of the competition. In his spare time he enjoys playing and watching football, taking out his classic cars and watching live music…i.e. anything that involves a fuel tank, a football or a festival and Gareth is there!

been a firm favourite at Nationwide since it’s launch in 2002 when it won numerous car awards and was regarded as the best SUV available. In 2010 numerous manufacturers produce an SUV and its popularity has waned in the face of stiff competition from BMW with the X5, the Q7 from Audi and the Mercedes M Class. However thanks to keen pricing, decent equipment levels and a spacious cabin, the XC90 continues to prove popular with buyers. Undercutting its competitors by over £150 per month helps with customers able to lease an XC90, albeit the entry Active model, from £349.95 plus vat per month or for £50 per month more at £399.95 plus vat there’s the sporty and comprehensively equipped R Design SE model whichs adds leather upholstery and 20 inch alloys amongst it’s many extras. Factor in seven seats as standard, a new more powerful 200bhp D5 diesel engine with improved fuel economy and the Volvo is a best lease winner for sure. Chrysler and Fiat announced that they were planning to join forces to better attack the worldwide auto market, the first question on all of our minds was which vehicles from Fiat the American side would import to the States? Much of the attention was focused on the little Fiat 500, and deservedly so. Small cars like the smart fortwo and MINI Cooper have proven that Americans will buy little machines as long as they are stylish, loaded with features and fun to drive.
Another vehicle that many enthusiasts are keenly interested in is the Fiat Panda, especially in its jacked-up off-road Cross trim. The overactive internet rumormill is now working on the idea that there’s a possibility that the Panda Cross may make it Stateside wearing a Jeep badge. As long as we’re dreaming, how ’bout throwing in the little 1.3L turbocharged diesel engine that powers it in Europe?
Chrysler’s viability plan did include the introduction of a new Jeep in 2011, and the timing would be perfect to help the SUV maker meet looming fuel economy requirements. Before any of that can happen, though, the automaker has until the end of the month to p

viewers are universal in their love of the new 2010 Jaguar XF’s exterior and interior styling. Edmunds credits its “crouching stance” and “coupelike roof,” which taper into a fastback-style tail, but thinks the nose is “somewhat quirky.” Though both Edmunds and Automobile comment on the XF’s passing resemblance to the Lexus GS series, Automobile asserts that similarity gives the new Jaguar a little less “drama than you’d expect…nice but not stunning.” Without the Jaguar hood ornament, they argue, you wouldn’t know which company built the new XF. Kelley Blue Book contends the “unorthodox” look has a “sleek, flowing profile.” Edmunds also appreciates the distinct appearance, noting that the Jaguar

question on everybody’s lips was which European top-sellers were finally going to come to North America. Stylish compact cars like the Fiat 500 and Bravo were suddenly a very real possibility for North America but those are just two of a handful of new models that could make their way Stateside.
Up to seven different models from Fiat and Romeo could be sold locally, and latest reports indicate that one of these could be sold under the Jeep brand. To help meet impending gulations, which will require carmaker fleets to average 35mpg bChrysler may sell the compact Fiat Panda Cross soft-roader as a Jeep. The Panda Cross packs a 1.3L turbodiesel engine and achieves up to 40mpg in fuel-economy.
According to Chrysler’s viability plan submitted to the Treasury Department last month, the small Jeep is scheduled to arrive in 2011. The plan includes the five other Fiat-based vehicles that will be sold under the Chrysler and Dodge brands. In addition, Chrysler factories may build Fiat Romeo-badged vehicles and four of these will eventually be available with electric and hybrid options.
The other models, according to Automotive News, include the aforementioned Fiat 500, Fiat Grande Punto, a new compact sedan based on Fitform, a compact crossover also based on the C-Evo and a midsize sedan based on a newlatform (essentially a stretched platform). For more detailed information about the individual models, check out our previous story by clicking here.

vehicle that was a massive disappointment in design, performance and build quality. In just about every way, the Cobalt was a let down for Chevrolet and was part of the reason why General Motors’ public image suffered, compared to Honda and Toyota.
With their new lease on life, GM has decided to kick it up a notch with the new Cruze. The Cruze differs from the Cobalt in many aspects, the most important of which is the fact that this machine will be a global product, so if it disappoints, GM will have let down the world, something that it can’t afford to do.
The Cruze makes its way to America with a lot to prove. First impressions are great, as it looks like an all-new vehicle, lacking any design elements from the company’s past.
Upon first glance the Cruze seems larger than it actually is. This optical illusion is present due to the sedan’s incredibly long headlights, the arch of the greenhouse and the large rear taillights. It seems as though the Cruze has little-man syndrome and added visual cues to make it seem larger, sort of like buying platform shoes.
The design looks fantastic from any angle and while the roof does appear to be quite tall, it works well with the rest of the car. The headlights, although large, fit seamlessly into the front fascia. This could very well be one of the best-looking small cars on the market, though it’s not as risky or edgy as the

Initially produced for World War II, tiny Willy’s-Overland Motors began producing the sturdy, low-cost Jeeps in 1941 after winning a competition with larger Ford Motor for the War Dept. contract. Designed to meet government specifications, Willy’s won the contract with a cheaper version and its more powerful Willy’s Go Devil engine.
But in time, when it couldn’t meet the demand to produce enough Jeeps, the government also awarded a contract to Ford Motors. Willy retained the name “Jeep” as a registered trademark, although the car is now made by Daimler-Chrysler.
